Oxford Partners was founded in 2022 by the South African investment banking team of Brian Smith and Gary Hudson. It is a financial advisory firm that is focused on Investment Banking. Oxford Partners was spun off from UBS’s South African Investment Banking office, after its closure in the region.
The team has a leading track record in M&A; Equity Capital Markets and Transaction Advisory. Our success is built on our extensive deal experience across Southern Africa and we are a trusted advisor to some of the largest companies in Southern Africa.

Oxford Partners is a level 2 contributor, majority black owned entity. Our shareholder is a broad based trust which funds qualifying projects across South Africa.


FIRST INVESTMENT/CONTRIBUTION
- The Unjani Clinic network is a network of primary healthcare clinics that provide affordable healthcare to underserved communities across South Africa. The clinics are owned and operated by black women professional nurses.
- They have 175 care settings including 165 clinics, plus 2 mobile clinics and 8 Health Pod’s operating nationally. It is aimed at:
- Empowering black woman professional nurses;
- Creating permanent jobs in communities; and ·
- Perfecting a sustainable clinic model for providing primary healthcare and quality medicines.
- The Unjani Clinic concept was developed out of the need for the investment in the overburdened healthcare system which is facing the triple affliction of HIV, AIDS and TB. It is intended to shift emphasis from costly curative-care to disease prevention and heath promotion.
- Oxford Partners’ initial contribution more than doubled the size of the Stellenbosch clinic and included installing 2 solar hybrid solutions, consulting room extensions and a separate patient triage area.


SECOND INVESTMENT/CONTRIBUTION
The Link Literacy and Numeracy Project is a Public Benefit Organisation which supports the development of literacy and numeracy in children for whom English is a second language, and who attend low income schools in Johannesburg.
It was founded in 2010 and is managed and staffed by over 400 committed volunteers – members of the community wanting to making a difference in education and who enjoy working with children.
The Link is recognised by the Gauteng Educational authorities, and has permission to operate during school hours and work with children mainly in Grade 2 and a few in Grade 3, who are identified by valid testing to be at risk of not achieving their potential.
There are currently 18 Link centres operating at schools in and around the greater Johannesburg area, and through their network are reaching over 800 children every week. They have also developed a Link-in-a-Box (Literacy) for organisations that are out of their area.
Oxford Partners’ initial contribution enables 100 grade 2 leaners to be supported for the year.

Brian Smith
Brian has extensive experience in banking and financial services.
- Prior to joining Oxford Partners Brian was the Executive Chairman for UBS South Africa.
- He also served as CEO and Joint Senior Country Officer and Head of Investment Banking for the Southern African region of JPMorgan
Brian has unparalleled corporate finance and markets experience and has led some of the largest funding and advisory mandates in the South African market.

Gary Hudson
Prior to joining Oxford Partners Gary was Head of Investment Banking for UBS in South Africa.
Gary has over 20 years of experience in South Africa and has led the execution of some of the largest and most complex M&A (both domestic and cross border) and equity market transactions in South Africa.
Gary was an approved JSE sponsor executive and has dealt with some of the most complex issues in relation to the JSE Listings Requirements.
